The gorgeous, buttery light... the anticipation of meeting your groom... the way you float through the morning until you walk down the isle. A bit ago I photographed a beautiful wedding out in Newberg, Oregon at The Allison Inn and Spa. What a delight the venue is! It's nestled in the wine country hills making it feel like a natural get-a-way from Portland. 2013 Portland Boudoir Event Dates!

April at the Hotel De Luxe

April 12th at 4pm and 5pm

April 13th at 9am, 10am 11am and 12noon

July location TBA

July 7th at 4pm and 5pm, 6pm

July 8th at 9am, 10am 11am and 12noon

Oct 18th at 4pm and 5pm

About Boudoir Events

Sessions are offered both as an "event" and on an individual basis. When booking an "event" the hotel cost will be covered, if booking individually you will be responsible for the location (i'm happy to shoot outside too!). For more boudoir photos please see here.

Ordering

Two weeks later, all of your images from your session will be posted into your online gallery. 5x7's start at $35, albums begin at $350. Because all sessions are booked as a collection you will choose your portraits via your online gallery.

Retouching

All portraits ordered will be fine tuned and completly retouched.

Timing

If you are planning on gifting this to your groom or husband on a specific date please plan ahead. Allow 4-6 weeks for your album to arrive.

Jenni and Jack | New York Wedding Photography

Last October I had the pleasure of traveling to New York to photograph Jenni and Jack's wedding. It was unlike any wedding I have photographed before, so fun! It was a very intimate affair with just immediate family involved and a good friend as their officiant. Their City wedding had the most beautiful weather in October! The days before it was raining and on the 5th the sky opened up and was clear as can be.

Jenni and Jack both got ready at their apartment in the city and carefully orchestrated between the rooms so they were able to have their first look on the rooftop. There were a few change of plans throughout the day but the ceremony on the rooftop of their building was beautiful... can't compete with that skyline! It was a very relaxed affair, after the ceremony we walked to the park for family photos and the all caught a cab to have a private dinning at the Gramercy Tavern. It was so calm and beautiful. The next day the entire family flew to celebrate on the tropical islands. Not a bad way to continue your wedding celebrations! I'm just sad I didn't tag along :)

Jenni and Jack, you were fantastic! I was so happy to be a part of your beautiful day! I wish you many, many years of happiness :)

2012 has been a wonderful year! I would love to send a giant thank you to all my 2012 clients, without you I would not be able to do what I love. I can't begin to count the amount of wonderful, generous people I had the opportunity to work with this year. It has truly been a blessing. This year I've photographed most in the Portland Merto area but also as far as San Diego, CA and New York City, NY. Jenn and Ray | California Wedding Photography at Estancia in Ja Jolla

I am so happy for Jenn and Ray. It's wonderful to meet a couple who are quick to laugh, quick to enjoy themselves and always enjoying their time together. That attitude that was completely present at their wedding; I can tell it's trickled down from their parents.

Their wedding was at the Estancia Hotel and Spa in La Jolla, California. It was gorgeous... the weather cooled off to a balmy 80 degrees; it's moments from the ocean. My favorite quote from the wedding happened to be from Jenn's father during his toast. He was addressing the groom and he said, "Ray, there will always be happiness and joy... (pause for effect)... when you marry a Thongnoi!" For those who don't know Jenn her last name was Thongnoi, rhyming with joy. Adorable. Let me assure you, the room roared with laughter... as I'm sure their marriage will too. Congrats to both of you!!

Leila + Jessie | Zenith Vineyard Oregon Wedding

I can't express to you how lovely Leila and Jessie's wedding day was! I was amazed by how relaxed and calm the entire day played out. Not only were they ready on time (amazing) but everyone including family and bridal party were at ease. It is refreshing how smoothly everything can go when everyone is having a great time!

Leila and Jessie -- congrats! Your day was beautiful, fun and full of PAR-TY!! Thank you for being gorgeous and choosing a fantasy venue like Zenith Vineyard. Also, doves during your ceremony-- awesome! Enjoy :)

Personal and Studio News... I'm Pregnant

20 weeks... and counting!

I suppose it's more personal, but when you run your own business it baby effects work timing too. I'm really excited to share the news with my online friends! I am officially 21 weeks along, due Nov 13th. I was trying to think of what I would be writing here online; keep it simple? share some details? I've decided on settling somewhere in-between.

Somedays pregnancy feels all consuming, others it seems like a distant expectation much like Christmas. It's coming, but it's still so far away no need to plan yet. What has been surprising is how many people are concerned with how I'm doing. Truth be told, I'm feeling pretty great! My first trimester was filled with exhaustion, hunger and food aversions. Luckly, I wasn't sick-sick like some. The exhaustion was quite hard because I don't enjoy feeling weak. I had just begun training for my first half marathon and couldn't understand why I wasn't getting any faster or stronger. WHY was I becoming winded after walking a flight of stairs?! Ah-ha! Pregnant.

The food aversions were and still are tricky, generally I'm a person who knows what she wants, when she wants it. I got me some opinions. However, these days I know I'm hungry but haven't the slightest idea what I want to eat, I just know I need it N.O.W. I call it crippling hunger. That's still happening well into my second trimester. I'm less "starving" and more weak.

All in all, my husband Josh and I are taking it in stride. We are thrilled, excited, nervous, happy... to meet our little one. We will be having baby at the Midwifery clinic through OHSU and have been going through the group pre-natal care with 10 other couples. We have made a few preparations for the little one... but many more still need to be made. With the help of Josh we've been documenting my growing belly progression. It's funny to look back at 6 weeks... I thought I was already showing. Boy am I in for a surprise.

Just a note for my clients... I will be taking a few months off after baby is born. At this point I'm not setting any exact dates but ask if you are thinking of scheduling later in the year I would plan for early fall. Please think about holiday orders early this year as I'll be enjoying my new addition over the holidays.

I also thought it might be fun to share a few pregnant resources I've come across. There are so many out there it's quite overwhelming!

$175 | Full Boudoir session in studio. The full Boudoir Session includes refreshments, day of style consults with 3 outfit changes and 60 minutes of photography time. The full session yields 60 final images to order from.

$125 | Mini Boudoir session in studio only. The mini boudoir sessions include refreshments, 1 outfit and 20 minutes of photography time. The mini session yields 20 final images to order from.

Ordering Session

Two weeks later, all clients come into to the studio for your in-person ordering session and slideshow projection. Sit back and relax on our plush couch to review your portraits with the help of Melissa! We will look through your portraits to help decide what products fit you best. 5x7's start at $35, albums begin at $350, and collections begin at $400.

Timing

I'm really excited to share Monika and Brandon's Engagement with you all! They were so great and fun loving. Because of our spring rain we scheduled the session at the studio and were able to hop out in John's Landing for a few shots. It's amazing what you can find in your own neighborhood. I love Portland!
