This post is a followup to the last post leading up to our anniversary. We.had.a.blast! I think I told you the traditional anniversary gift for five years is wood, right? It was a rough one. What else could you get for someone containing wood? We aren't the most traditional couple, I just think it's fun to try and bring out creativity with gifts.

I got Josh a wood ring. He loves it! Yay for me.
Josh got me what I refer to as a "big girl" jewelry box. It was time and I love it!
Where did we eat? Doug Fir, of course!

Things have been a bit crazy around here (as if you couldn't tell from my lack of posting). I decided it was important to wish my husband away on a surprise beach trip. We went to the quaint town of Astoria, OR. For those of you who don't live in the Pacific NW Astoria's claim to fame is the Goonies. It was filmed there and everyone is really excited about that. It was the perfect weekend getaway for the two of us :)

We stayed at Hotel Commodore which feels like a version of The Ace Hotel. It's very hip and funky. I loved it. The coffee shop attached was lovely too! We just did a few simple things together; laughed, ate and just enjoyed the time together. If anyone is interested I found a great article here. We ate the most amazing oyster shooters here, and found a food boat, and explored the Astor Column, and took a waterfront trolly ride. :) Nerdy, but totally awesome.

Trips are my favorite!
