It had been four years. Four years! A classic story of "the shoe makers family doesn't have any shoes," this photographer did not have any family portraits.

We have portraits, of course. I've taken Lord knows how many portraits of Josh. Some of them are for his business profile, some of them are on vacation, some of them are just around the block. I've also had my fare share of portraits taken by others. I've been the subject, I've hired someone for my profile image for business, plus add countless vacation photos and we have plenty. Here's the problem: we aren't together.

On our four year anniversary Josh and I scheduled a photo shoot... for us. The next time we have portraits taken we'll most likely be at a different stage of life. I don't want to forget what it was like in our little house with our little dog. I know we will not live in our place forever, just as we will not be in this phase of life forever. I'm my fathers daughter and I'm a sentimental being. The thought of losing this time of our lives and moving on makes me want to preserve it forever. So, I did the best I could and scheduled the shoot in our home and also a local dog park where we take our little girl, Persay.

Huge thanks to the following people who made this possible and so special for us.
Josh. Thank you for being you.
Deyla of Deyla Huss Photography. Friend and photographer. She totally rocks and I can't imagine Portland without her.
Jennifer from Face Body Beauty. Her team of ladies gussied me up with hair and makeup. I'm a WAY better version of myself with their talent.
Hair M. Their did Josh's hair! I love that he got it cut and styled for the session.
Persay. You crack me up every day of my life.

I bet you want to know which photograph I'll order as a wall portrait. The 5th from the top of us kissing in the grass and Persay in the upper right corner. It's a perfect mix of serious and laughter. Persay's placement totally cracks me up and for some reason it's just "us". Now, which to choose for the Holiday card! Decisions, decisions.
Much love, Melissa Tomeoni
