I'm going to take the opportunity to write about having a wedding day "first look" and share Brittany and Mike's. Their 1st look was perfect in my eyes. It was intimate, special and peaceful.

If you have been married in the past 5 + years, or are engaged, chances are you have been asked about your "first look". Traditionally speaking, people aren't for this option... but here is the funny part. The tradition of not seeing the bride or groom before the ceremony actually stems from arranged marriages. Isn't that funny? In arranged marriages the bride or groom would not have the opportunity to see each other before the ceremony for fear that one of them would run away. I know! And you thought it was for luck! Funny, uh?

The number one reason I think the bride and groom should see each other before the ceremony is not for schedule, pictures or guest waiting time after the ceremony. It's for peace and joyfulness. Wedding days can be stressful but the moment you see your groom everything seems to melt away. You are ready, he is ready. The two of you, together, this is what the day is all about. Someone else is taking care of the details and you are with your groom. Sigh of relief. Smiles. Tears. Stress free.

This is why I think first looks are really important. I think it aids in a relaxing, peaceful day. And of course the pictures are always worth it!  Brittany and Mike, you got it right... Cheers to your first look!

Thanks for viewing! And a HUGE thanks to Anne Adams for helping out.

Melissa, reading your take on first looks made me remember mine with my husband! I am pretty tired today so I might blame it on that, but I teared up a few times. That memory will forever be so strong in my mind. I love it when my brides and grooms opt for a first look, it is just the sweetest moment ever! Beautiful shots, you captured theirs perfectly :) Well done!
